The Persian Society of the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London is one of the oldest societies’ of the students’ union. The Persian society aims to promote the rich history, eclectic cultures, diverse language and literature of the Persian-speaking world, focussing mainly on Iran but also Afghanistan and Tajikistan. We are an independent group of students and are unaffiliated to any political or religious institution.
All students are welcome to join the society and events in previous years have included: Lectures on aspects of Iranian Art; Persian customs and festivals; outings to sample Persian cuisine; film festival of contemporary Iranian cinema; documentary film screenings; parties and shisha nights and much more…
We plan to host similar events throughout the course of the academic year and actively seek members’ help as well as ideas and suggestions.
